Venta la Vega, Adaras Lluvia Blanco 2025

Get to know: Adaras Lluvia Blanco Organic 2025

A crisp, organic Spanish white wine from high altitude vines in DO Almansa.

Tasting Note

Lime, kiwi and passion fruit come through first, sharp and aromatic, before it settles into something juicier with stone fruit underneath. A crisp, mineral backbone holds it all together, keeping the wine taut rather than soft. It's zesty on the front palate but has a subtly layered texture too, and more weight than you'd expect from something this fresh. The finish is clean and lingers well after the glass is empty. Serve it nicely chilled and enjoy.

Top food pairings:

  • Grilled octopus or clams a la marinera, the classic seafood match
  • Citrus-marinated chicken
  • Goat's cheese salad, for a vegetarian option
Kate Says

"'Lluvia' means rain, and it fits: the cool nights up at 1200 metres are what keep this wine so fresh, even after four to five months on the lees building up its texture. Good one to have open while you're cooking, especially if there's seafood involved."

Producer Info

Bodegas y Viñedos Venta La Vega work more than 850 hectares of ecological farmland in the mountainous, limestone-clay hills of Almansa. Vines planted as high as 1200 metres create their own microclimates, cool enough to farm organically in a part of Spain where that isn't always straightforward. Oenologist Jose Angel Martinez focuses on Almansa's native grape varieties, letting the place come through rather than chasing an international style.

How it's made:

  • Varieties: 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 50% Verdejo
  • Hand-harvested at night to bring the fruit in as fresh as possible
  • Cool fermentation to hold onto the aromatics
  • Four to five months on fine lees, for texture and a subtle savoury edge

Good to know:

  • Region: DO Almansa, Spain
  • Style: White, still wine
  • Closure: Not supplied
  • Vegan: Not supplied
  • ABV: 12%
  • Vintage: 2025

Why we love it:

This organic Spanish white doesn't sit still. Lime and passion fruit up front, stone fruit and minerality underneath, and enough texture from its time on lees to lift it well past a standard fridge-door white. Good with seafood, and just as good poured on its own on a warm afternoon.
